How often do you hear the phrase “organization is the key to success!” We all promise ourselves to be more organized, to keep neat todo lists for our daily chores or work tasks, but few of us follow through. However, if you are working on a serious project or are a project manager, organization is something you just can’t do without. And chances are you will need something a little more sophisticated than a scratch pad or your Outlook task manager.
This is where project management (PM) software comes in. PM software is nothing novel, but for most people the phrase tends to generate yawns or outright dread. And it’s true, using PM software is not often a fun project.
The problem with most PM software is that it tends to be more complex than necessary. It can be dense, weighed down by abstract features of dubious utility, and have a cumbersome user interface. Poor collaboration tools can lead to miscommunication or poor participation by project members. Soon, the only person updating the PM software is the poor project manager.
Taskio was conceived during moments of frustration spent with these types of PM products. We knew something superior was possible and we decided to create it ourselves based on a basic design philosophy: simplicity without compromise. We wanted Taskio to be simple enough for a novice to use in managing simple to-do lists, yet powerful enough to reasonably meet the needs of complex projects and seasoned project managers. And we wanted this without unnecessary clutter and complexity. In designing Taskio, we borrowed some principles from sophisticated agile design to create powerful functionality, but kept the UI clean, intuitive, and devoid of intimidating PM jargon and unecessary features.
